about
Many often feel like they don’t belong, but what happens when you can’t decide if you do truly deserve a place in this world or if you are no one, an unimportant stranger? Inspired by the question artificial intelligence and whether A.I. can ever be self-aware, ‘Human’ seeks to describe the many feelings associated with Imposter Syndrome. It is both wearing a mask and wanting to break free; feeling empty and feeling like there’s a whole world hidden below; feeling like you’ll never be good enough and feeling like you can do anything you set your mind to. The emotional toil of feelings like this can leave you feeling dead, cold, and robotic; maybe it’s enough to question your own humanity.
lyrics
Now I show what’s underneath.
Do I feel? And do I breathe?
And it’s all a little hazy, a little grey.
And all the lights go out and the colors fade.
I can make them shine all on my own.
Turn the colors up and let them show.
And I need this all to prove I’m still alive,
To prove this life is not a test this time.
If I fall down will it break me,
Will I bend or bleed?
Am I Human?
I won’t wear your mask, I won’t bear your chain.
I may have no heart, but I’m not your game.
And I’ll smile for you while you have your fun,
But leave you in your cage when I run
If I fall down, will this break me?
Will I bend or bleed?
Human? Human.
Shed my skin,
Second soul,
Learn to hide it all below.
Human, Human, Human Human….
